From the wire to the idea, we give shape to your needs.

Our expertise since 1978

Special Springs is a reference point in designing and manufacturing technical and industrial springs, among which gas springs, compression wire springs, traction and torsion springs and shaped wire elements.

In our plant of Romano d’Ezzelino, we are working with a team of experts with more than 45 years of experience in the development and design of industrial springs. Thanks to the use of state of art CNC machines, we are able to ensure high quality steel products, with fast delivery times, both for big or small batches.

In addition to the production of custom wire springs, Special Springs offers a wide range of standard springs for industrial purpose, ensuring immediate availability and efficient solutions for every need.

In the heart of the production

In our department, dedicated to custom springs, the long-time experience joins with state of art technologies to ensure highly performing and customizable industrial springs.

Thanks to cutting-edge equipment and automated processes, we ensure the maximal precision in every production step, from the profiling to the heat treatment and finishing.

Inside our plant, the design and realization of custom springs is supervised by a specialized technical team, who effects careful check on diameter, pitch and mechanical tolerances.

At the end of every step, we use automated trial & test systems and statistical analysis software to validate the final quality of our springs. This approach enable us to offer reliable and durable products, compliant also the most strict technical certifications.

    Compression Springs

Compression springs are bodies – typically of cylindrical shape- realized with round wire (or others shapes), coiled on spirals, and designed to be compressed in a controlled way according to a determined strength value.
We work side by side with the customer to define precisely the technical features of the springs; therefore, we develop the product in full compliance of the application requisites, to ensure reliability and durability.

    Applications

Compression springs are among of the most common springs and are used in lots of applications. Some examples of final products which use compression springs include:

    • Vehicle’s shock absorbers / dampers
    • Switches / push buttons
    • Watches
    • Ballpoint pens

    Materials

Our compression springs can be manufactured with a wide range of materials, with a wire diameter from 0.35mm to 26mm. According to the application, they can have cylindrical shapes – with variable pitc- can be conical or barrel-shaped.

    The main material used are:

    • Chrome-Silicium
    • Chrome-Vanadium
    • Stainless steel
    • Other steels on demand

We can manufacture the springs with the most suitable wire shape according to the performance and aesthetics requirements. Contact us fir any further detail and possibility of customization.

    Treatments

All our springs undergo a heat treatment (Heat treatment and stress relief according to the type of raw material used for manufactory). Upon request, they can undergo different adjunctive treatment to increase the performances and durability.

    Examples of possible treatments:

    • E-Coating in 5 colours
    • Powder coating
    • Liquid coating
    • Zinc treatment
    • Passivation treatment
    • Nickel treatment

    Traction springs

Traction springs are bodies – generally of cylindrical shape- realized with wire coiled on spirals, designed to extend according to a determined strength value.

In order to be fixed, traction springs are provided with loops or metal endings/hooks.

    Types of loops:

    • German loops
    • English loops

Both loops can be realized in open or closed configuration. Different ending designs/hooks can be evaluated with our technical department.

    Applications

The traction springs are used in different sectors, among others:

    • Presses and blocking systems
    • Vehicle Brakes and clutches
    • Door and gates automatic latches
    • elastic trampolines.

    Materials

The traction springs are manufactured with specific machines exploiting a large range of spring steels, with wire diameter from 0.4 to 10 mm, among which:

    Torsion Springs

The functioning of torsion springs is based upon the accumulation of rotation energy, derived from the application of torque.

Torsion springs are generally installed on mandrels or devices working with reciprocal rotation between the elements. This is the reason why they present in both sides a protruding end, where the workings forces/torques act. Thanks to their versatility and numerous possible applications, these springs can be produced in different shapes and configurations.

    Applications

    • Eyeglasses spring hinges
    • Rolling shutters and tilting blinds
    • Car seats folding systems
    • Bows and crossbows

Torsion springs, thanks to their Thanks to their versatility and resistance, are essential in many devices and sectors.

    Shaped wire elements

Shaped wire elements are products that share only some functions with springs. They are typically used on multi-axis folding machines in order to shape the initial wire with several machining (folding and counter-folding, but not only that), to comply with the project specifications.

    Applications

    • Supports / Housings and blocking elements for household appliances
    • Locking and positioning systems for productions lines
    • Elastic elements for prosthesis and medical tools
    • Vibration absorption elements
