The origins of the family Cappeller: A story of flexibility and dedication

Dear readers,
We are proud to share with you the fascinating origins of the Cappeller family, the family of our founders: Augusto and Luciano Cappeller. Their story is an extraordinary journey reflecting the flexibility, the dedication and the attention to the customers, which characterize special Springs.

A childhood at the Circus
Augusto and Luciano have grown up in a magical and unique environment. Their father, Cesare, born in 1917, was a tall and athletic show man, who alternated trapeze performances to clown shows. Cesare came from a circus family of -at least- one generation: his mother Elvira managed the Cappeller circus, touring the Northern Italy bringing amusement and wonder to kids and grown-up spectators.

The Small circus.
“Cappeller Circus” was a modest entity, with wooden benches arranged in a circle, under a dark-green big top, lifted from the centre with a pole, like a big umbrella. This tiny circus offered to the public a glance of magic and dream, thanks to Cesare’s exhibitions, who entertained and enchanted the audience.

Adversities and Resilience.
The life at the circus was not easy. One night, a terrible storm destroyed the big top, making it impossible to continue the shows as before. But Cesare decided not to give up. Determined to continue, he founded a new circus, even smaller than the previous one and with no cover. His tenacity and his unstoppable spirit are qualities which were passed to his children.

A meeting guided by destiny.
During one of his exhibitions, Cesare met Giovanna, a young woman from Crespano del Grappa (a neighbour village), who had recently moved to Cartigliano with her family. An immediate and passionate love grew between them. Giovanna joined the Circus, embracing this travelling word of poetry and struggles. They married in 1945, short after the war, joining their life and their passions.

The roots of Special Springs.
From these roots, deep in the Vicenza’s territory, the philosophy of Special Springs was born. The capacity of adapting to every situation, the meticulous care to customer and the commitment for excellent performances are distinctive traits of Cappeller family’s DNA. These values are guiding our company today, as they have driven Cesare and Giovanna in their extraordinary journey.
